Anyone else Lactose Intollerant?

I am lactose intollerant and thus do not eat ANY dairy (and in my case, no eggs either).  This is a far away matter to worry about, but will I be able to breast feed?  I have a joke that I probably make soy milk, but all jokes aside, is that going to mess with my milk?

I have my first doctors appointment Monday (I can't hardly wait one more minute) so I will obviously ask him, but that is still far away and I am so curious?

Are any of you ladies second time mothers that are lactose intollerant and fed a baby round one?

Re: Anyone else Lactose Intollerant?

  • My SIL found out that her son had a bad reaction to the dairy that she was eating (he had bloody stool) so the Dr. had her cut all dairy out of her diet while breast feeding. ?I also have a cousin who is allergic to dairy so she didn't have any in her diet and she also breast fed. ?Sorry, no personal experience but it seemed to work for them! ?GL

  • I'm allergic to milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, seafood, soy, and eggs, and I was able to BF DD for 13.5 months! I just had to make sure I was still taking in an adequate amount of calories, since BFing burns calories. I ate A LOT of meat and veggies, and potatoes, and rice. We never had an issue with weight gain, and I actually had an OVERsupply.

This is awesome news!  Sorry you are allergic to so many things...I feel your pain (a little bit).  Thanks :)
