Cheese ?

When I went for my first visit to the OB she went through all the things I need to be doing and not doing as well as the food restrictions.  To my surprise the list of food restrictions was VERY short, only 7 things they recommended.  However they did not say anything about limiting or not eating certain cheeses.

So I guess I am wondering what others think.  I LOVE feta cheese and really love Greek salads.  What are the concerns surrounding the soft cheese?

Re: Cheese ?

  • As long as it's pasteurized, it's fine.

Most soft cheeses in restaurants are going to be pasteurized.

  • The reason a lot of soft cheese are on the "don't eat" list is because some of them are not pasteurized.  You can check the label at the grocery store and see it the ingredients say "pasteurized milk" or not.  Most feta I've seen is fine.  Maybe it isn't all pasteurized at super authentic Greek restaurants though.
