I need help with this 1st Bday theme

Since DD's name is Marlie, I was thinking of doing a Jamaican/Rasta/Bob Marley theme for her 1st bday in August. Is that dumb? I'm kinda on the fence about it. So far my ideas are to have Bob Marley music playing, those fake dreadlock Jamaican hat thingys instead of party hats, serve Jerk Chicken and other Jamaican food, and have the colors of the Jamaican flag (green, yellow, and black...+red) for the decor. What else can I do with this?

    That sounds like fun!  Maybe you could look up some infor on Jamaican culture and see what traditions they have for birthdays.  Just don't offer any kaya, and you'll be fine!

    I don't really have any other ideas for you but I think it's cute.  I would say to just be careful that it doesn't look like you're mocking the Jamaican culture, but rather celebrating it. 

    I would suggest PP's suggestion of looking up the culture and traditions and seeing if they have any games you can do at your party.
