Anyone have their big u/s before 20 weeks?

I'm scheduled to go in this Wednesday for our big u/s, but I've noticed that most people find out at 20 weeks.  Did anyone else find out earlier?  I'm so excited to find out if our LO is a boy or girl!!! Smile

Re: Anyone have their big u/s before 20 weeks?

  • sometimes when people say "big u/s" they are talking about the gender determination, other times they are talking about the anatomy scan (very detailed, higher level u/s where they check all systems, etc.). We had our gender determination at 16 weeks and our anatomy scan at 24 weeks.

  • Oh, I didn't know it was two different types of appointments.  This will be a gender determination as far as I know.  I'm guessing the anatomy scan will be after 20 weeks.
  • We had our anatomy scan scheduled for 20W but found out the sex of the baby at 16W because they were having trouble finding the heartbeat so they gave me an extra u/s.

  • I wussed out and paid clearview ultrasound at almost 18 weeks to find out becuase I couldn't wait till 20.I'm impatient Stick out tongue

My doctor does the gender scan and everything else at 20 weeks. I just couldn't wait and I knew that at 18 weeks I wasn't looking for anything other than to know the sex.

Good luck! I can't believe how fast it's flying by. Seems like it's flying for you and dragging for me.

What's your guess? boy or girl? do you have a preference?

  • Both of my official gender determinations were done at 15 weeks, anatomy scans at 24 and 21 weeks. I had a bonus u/s at 14 weeks with Rhett and the NP felt certain enough about the sex to tell us then.

Earlier on I kept thinking girl, but now I am thinking a boy!  I don't have a preference at all, just really excited to find out either way.

Same here- I think we have the same doctor.

  • My anatomy and gender scan were at 19 weeks. I had one at 10 weeks to confirm pregnancy, 19 weeks, and then another one around 35 weeks to make sure baby is not too big and head down.

  • If you're referring to gender we had ours scheduled for 16 weeks but I ended up having to go in early and found out at 14w6d with Seeker.  With Seeker patients it's pretty normal, don't you go to that practice?  I can't remember.
  • Same doc as rssn, we found out at 16weeks. Good luck at that appt - it's fun! :)

This happened almost exactly the same to us!  It was an unexpected gift.

I go to the same practice and see Dr. Edgerton.   :)

  • My doc does the anatomy scan (and gender determination) at 18 weeks.
