Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I have a birthday invite question, sorry!

I've been debating on asking because I know there are a lot of birthday questions already but you guys are so helpful!

Are you ordering your invites from places like Etsy? Will it include a picture of LO?

If so, when are you planning on taking the picture?

I'm trying to figure out whether I want to send out invites with DD's photo and if I do, when I should take that picture.  It feels silly to take it now or even next month since I'm sure she'll change a lot from now until her birthday BUT I also feel like I don't have that much time left.

Re: I have a birthday invite question, sorry!

  • We aren't putting DS' pic on the invite for that very reason.

  • I think you're safe to go ahead and take one. They already have so much personality and most of their "look" by now.

I'm going to take one early if I have to order invitations, since it takes awhile for the order to be processed/shipped, and then addressed and mailed.

  • We were going to do Etsy, but found some super cute ones at a party supply store that we just fill in.  A little more work, but much cheaper.  And it has a number one that pops out when you open the envelope.
  • Could you order the kind where you insert your own pic? Just a thought...

I guess that's not really the "look" you're going for though, huh?

  • I was having the same concerns. I wanted to do a 1st bday photo shoot and I don't want to do it 2 months before her birthday.I have decided to send out a regular invite that just matches the party theme and then do a thank you card with a photo from her 1st bday photos.  Now my only problem is find a photo thank you where I can also write in stuff.

  • DS's birthday is next week and I used a picture from a professional session in October.  Yes, he doesn't look exactly the same, but it is an awesome picture and made a great invitation.  Everyone will get to see the real thing at the party.  :-)

  • We bought a jpg from Etsy that included 3 pics. I chose a pic from birth, 6 months and recently. I love it. The price is great and it is customized. I say big deal if she changes in the next month or so, everyone you invite would probably love to see her beautiful face.
  • Mavila, Please! You know you can do what you want around this place.

I think you should send a pic just because she is cute....i think. My memory is foggy because it's been a while since Ive seen a picture of her myself.

  • I was just going to get the ones that come with the theme, where you handwrite the info, but I found a really adorable matching one online and they're really inexpensive so we're doing that. No picture though.

You would need to take the pic at least 2 months before her 1st birthday in order to have time to order the invites and mail them out with enough time.

  • I AW mine all the timeStick out tongue You pay 8-16 for them to design & then you just upload it to CVS or Walgreens & get it as a picture. I paid 8 for below & had 30 free prints so it was sooo worth it!

I need to update the picture but I seriously have no new photos.  I think my photo itch ended lol.

---There are some etsy sellers that claim they can turn it around within 24 hours but I don't want to risk it.  We'll see...

I thought of this as well.

  • I just did DD's invite today on shutterfly.  I chose one that has 3 pictures, so I included a newborn pic and two more recent ones.  I don't think she'll look that different in two months - and I don't think it really matters if she does!

I refuse to answer your question until I see a picture of the cuteness that is your daughter.

  • We got DD's off etsy. I just used a picture that was recent and that I liked. I really didn't care if it was a pic when she was 11 vs 9 months. She doesn't change that much. And its getting harder to get pictures of her smiling and sitting still.

  • Auchick (jumpingjaxdesigns) is making mine. I am going to take a picture of her in the next week or 2, so it will be about a month before her birthday. Some people are doing vintage photos on the invites.

Ohhh what theme are you going with????

  • I will be sending dds invites 3 weeks before the party. I will be taking her pictures 2 weeks before her first birthday.

I will send pictures in the Thank You cards.

I really don't get taking 1 year pictures a month or more in advance.
