Did something unexpectedly nice.

She sent me several pictures of Mr Techie as a baby.

Mr Techie's parents divorced many, many years ago and it got ugly. A few years after they divorced, Mr Techie's dad had to vacate a house he and the boys were living in quickly- we're talking packing the entire house in 2 hours. Edit to add: They left behind a lot, including his dad's copies of the pictures.

So I have never seen pictures of him as a child. He's a pretty good lookin' baby! I'll see if I can scan them and share them later.

She also wrote me a sweet note with a vote of confidence for the two of us being good parents.

I thought so. She lives in Missouri so we don't see them very often. But she likes me. At least, I was pretty sure she liked me.

The vote of confidence in Mr Techie was cute. She told me about how good he's always been with kids and how she always knew he would make a good daddy.

Adding another layer to the "I think this might be real" cake.

Wow!  That's very sweet!  I don't expect anything so thoughtful out of my MIL.  Mostly because she doesn't really think of anyone but herself--not anything against me, but she just wouldn't think to do something spontaneously nice for someone else.
