Dark Moles

Does anyone else notice that some of their moles are darker?  I noticed this yesterday....I asked my SIL who has had two kids and googled it.  Seems common.  Just wondering about everyone else.

Re: Dark Moles

  • Your not alone. I had one that was concerning me, but my OB said to just watch it through the pregnancy. It went from light to real dark within a week or so.

  • I thought I couldn't be the only one! Ha.  At first I thought I had been out in the sun or something and they were like freckles (on my shoulders) but then I noticed one in my cleavage and I know that hasn't been in the sun!  Ha ha

  • I have read that this is common as well!  I haven't really noticed too much of a change but I'm sure it will come!

  • At my last Dermatologist appt. we talked about this, and she said it was very common for moles to change during pregnancy, and just to continue monitoring. Although if you don't see a Derm. regularly and something changes, you may want to get it checked.  She also told me that they don't/can't remove anything during the 1 trimester, because the numbing meds may cause problems for the fetus.  Second tri is fine.
  • Warning: with my 1st pregnancy a lot of new dark moles appeared. Small ones, freckles size, but definite moles.

  • No, but thanks for posting this because that's something I'll definitely keep an eye out for.  I'm covered in moles and go to the derm regularly for skin cancer screenings so I'm always watching for changes.  Good to know it's normal!
