Does your LO fall a lot?

Someone wrote a post below about their LO bonking their head. My LO hits his head all.the.time. I feel like he is too little to be hitting his head so much! He pulls himself up on everything and a lot of the time he falls backwards. He hasn't learned how to gracefully fall on his bottom yet. He falls as stiff as a board right on the back of his head. It freaks me out, on average he hits his head 2x a day! We follow him around like a hawk at home but my mom watches him while we are working and I have a feeling she doesn't watch him so closely and he falls a lot more often there. Should I be concerned about him hitting his head so much at 8 months old??

Re: Does your LO fall a lot?

  • He'll figure it out soon.  DS still falls, but nothing like when he was learning to pull-up and figure out his balance. We'll go through this again when he starts walking on his own.  Just watch what he's playing with, but give him his space to learn (and part of that is letting them fall). DS falls much more graciously these days.
  • Yup, DS falls a lot.  Most of the time he's ok - he bumps his head or something else, but doesn't cry - just keeps on playing.  At least once a day he'll hit his head a little harder and cry.  I try not to be an overprotective Mom, but it's hard to watch him fall/hurt himself.  I don't think he's doing it any more than is normal though, so what can ya do?
