My brother in law (DH's sister's husband) is named Charles Miles and goes by Miles. Their son is Charles Lachlan and is called Lachlan - this is also how BIL's father was, Charles ___ and he went by his middle name, so it's a family tradition for them.
My question is, I LOVE the name Charles and it would be top of my list for our second (we just confirmed it's a boy). I mentioned to MIL how I would love it but thought it was probably weird since that is technically BIL and nephew's name; she asked BIL and he actually said he didn't have a problem with it since they don't really use it for either of them.
What do you think? Is it just too close, even though neither BIL or nephew are called Charles? They do use their full names for formal stuff (i.e. wedding, baptism, things like that). Technically, my ILs would have two grandsons named Charles.
Re: Would you use this name?
I would. You asked and it's not a problem for them and since they go by their mn I don't see one either.
BTW Great name
And we have a niece named Gabriela (Gabi), but Gabriel is still on my list if LO is a boy. I guess I just don't get the "someone has already used this name" thing. Trust me, chances are very good that somewhere in the world is another person with the same name you will choose for LO. Even if you see them a lot, who cares? Each will stand out in his/her own way.
this.
Bloggin' It
Go right ahead.
I have two cousins named John, after our grandfather, but one goes by Jake.
