NBR: Evening wedding attire

I have a wedding to attend @ the end of May. I will be 32wks at the time and need to order a dress off the computer as i'm unable to find a decent dress in store. I found this dress: https://www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/occasion/wedding/isabella-oliver-maternity-tie-knot-dress/D/30100/P/1:200:5050:2030/I/DR068

Do you think it's appropriate for an evening wedding?? Has anyone ordered a maternity dress from this site before? If so, are their clothes made well? Thanks!

  • I think it's appropriate.  I have heard good things about this web site.  Sorry, no personal experience.

  • I haven't ordered anything from that website, but I like that dress and think it is good for an evening wedding.

  • I haven't ordered from there but I would keep in mind that the dress is 3/4 length sleeves. I don't know where you are located but end of May could be really hot. I am in MI and going to a wedding end of May and I have short short sleeves to wear.

I wouldn't wear a jersey fabric dress to a formal evening wedding, but since you're pregnant you sort of get a hall pass.

However, $179 for a jersey dress is a lot. I already picked up 2 formal dresses on eBay for less than $30 each and they're fabulous and will work for the myriad of summer weddings I have to attend.

I think it would look great in black. Definitely wedding appropriate. Kinda expensive though for a one day event? Not sure if it matters to you, but there have been a TON of wedding appropriate dresses on ebay that are super cute.

  • I agree about the jersey knit fabric, I don't think it's appropriate for an evening wedding.

  • I think it is fine for an evening wedding, as the pp said, you get a hall pass because you're pg.

HOWEVER...I would buy this similar dress from Gap for $40, instead of the $179.

I say no to jersey as well.....and DONT buy the gap dress!!  I bought it and it looks like a nightgown or something.  NOT evening wear.  Looks much better in the picture, I returned it.

Also try Japanese Weekend, or Nordstrom.com, they have some great dresses in your price range.

  • IMO I love the dress, but would try to find a similar one for cheaper. I have Nothing against the jersey knit fabric as more and more bridesmaid dresses are being offered in this fabric. After all people should be paying attention to the bride and groom not what other guests are wearing. I say if you like it and don't mind spending that much then get it, pair it with some cute shoes and other accessories and have a blast.
