Hey ladies...I'm so sorry, I disappeared for awhile. But, I'm back.......
In order to remind you who I am....my husband and I have been trying since before we even had our wedding. Got our fabulous first + pg test in December 2007, and two weeks later I miscarried. Since then, I've had an additional 4 miscarriages. We have been going to an RE. All test results have come back within normal ranges, and my multiple loss panel did not show any red flags.
This last cycle (CD 1 was March 14) we did Clomid + trigger + prometrium suppositories. On April 9th (a week ago today), we got a BFP! We were soooooo excited. We really felt like this was our time!
We set up our 1st appt for April 26th and had our beta for Tuesday. Unfortunately, Monday evening I started spotting (brown). Knowing that this can be common, I didn't flip out...YET. Tuesday morning, I woke up in prep to go to my beta (which I was EXCITED about). By that time I had even heavier brown "spotting", but with clots. I was FREAKING OUT...I had my beta done and then was immediately seen by the dr.
My levels showed that my hcg was 64 and my progesterone......was 5.6 The dr wasn't feeling so confident and was thinking that with my low progesterone, my body was going to miscarry. He did put me back on prometrium suppositories and told me to prepare for the worst...and well, that night, I started bleeding heavily
I had another blood draw set for yesterday....I went, and was still continuing to bleed.
I just got a call back from the dr. My hcg went UP! What?! I'm sooo confused? It didn't double.....it went from 64 to 96, but they are having me go back tomorrow get another draw. But I just don't understand how I can be bleeding this heavily and my hcg is going UP?!
Any thoughts on this, ladies???

I am so sorry for what you are going through. It is not fair. I hope that if you are m/c'ing that your doctors are able to learn something that will help you in the future.
Could it be that your numbers kept climbing until you started to bleed heavily and you are catching the beta on its trip down?
Again, I am so so sorry for what you are going through.
(hugs)
I'm so so sorry you're going through this. It's so emotionally painful. I haven't gone through exactly what's happening with you, but with my last pregnancy, my beta was going up and up and up. When we went for the 1st us, it was discovered i was having a blighted ovum (again). My betas were in the 40,000s! I was on progesterone supps the whole time, which I think is why I had no bleeding (although even for my first m/c i never really bled -- my m/c was discovered at 8 weeks and i had no bleeding that whole time). But sometimes, when your body still thinks you're pregnant, it produces hcg for a little while. I hope that the bleeding stops and everything is ok.
I'm so sorry you are going through this and about all your previous losses. I had similar situations as you (4 previous m/c). I"m sorry that this isn't good news, but my betas were always going up, even though it was already confirmed on u/s that I had blighted ovums every time. They eventually stopped doubling, and just started going up slower and slower. Then, once I had a d&c or started bleeding heavily, they started to go back down.
It sounds to me like your progesterone is low and that could be the cause of your recurrent m/cs. I would insist next time that your doctor keep you on the prometrium through the first trimester. If you stop it early, it isn't going to help you much. I would recommend another beta to see if it's leveling off or going down, or possibly going back up if you aren't m/cing.
Again, I'm so sorry. I apologize that my post isn't reassuring to you, but I just wanted to give you my similar experiences.
Thank you so much for your thoughts, ladies!
I knew that this wasn't an " Omg, there's hope" type of situation..I mean, I've been OBVIOUSLY m/cing for almost 3 days now. I mean, after 5 previous, it's pretty obvious (at least in my body). But, this was the first time for me, where my hcg level had increased after I had started bleeding. I did have it increase in 2 of my previous m/c but that was when I was still brown spotting, not actively bleeding, which when I had yesterday hcg level checked I had been actively bleeding for over 2 days.
Soooo...anyway....I guess what is oh so frustrating for me is the fact that according to all of my bloodwork done by the RE, all of my levels (including progesterone) are within normal ranges....so, why does this keep happening? Anyway, this time, the RE gave me a script for prometrium suppositories to be refilled as often as necessary, and taken days 20-30 OR through the 1st tri if we find out we're pg again.
I know you can't say "What If", but I still keep thinking...what if I would have taken another prometrium suppository on Monday...would that have helped and not made me m/c? But I can't do that to myself.
I get another hcg level check done tomorrow and then I will have an u/s to see what the issue is......
Uggghhh....Thanks for listening, ladies! It's definitely appreciated!
