DH and I were discussing this topic today. DS will be 2 1/2 yrs ahead of his sibs (boy/girl twins). So, we were saying how DS has SO MANY toys and DS#2 would benefit from them. DD will likely get more new stuff, since we don't have girl-y toys.
If you have same sex sibs or 2 and 1, how do you handle new toys??
Re: Gifts for younger same sex sibs??
We reuse my older sons toys but I still buy my younger son new ones. Mainly b/c on holidays and such I couldn't not get him gifts like his brother, and when I randomly buy something for my older son I always buy something for my younger son as well to keep things fair. And new toys come out, and they have different interests, specifically when they were younger. As they get older (5 and 3) we have more joint things anyways. They play with the same things so really when they are getting toys its for both of them. But b/c I insist on getting my younger son his own toys that means I have a crapload of toys! ha.
I have recently begun to clean out. We want another baby someday so I kept about one bin of baby toys and got rid of the rest. Again with the thought that i'll want the next baby to have their own things as well.
