I have my first appointment tomorrow morning, and would love to have a list of helpful questions to ask my OB. I have not yet decided if this will be the Dr. I stick with, so tomorrow will also be somewhat of an "interview."
What questions did you/are you going to ask your Dr. at the first appt.?
Re: What Q's did you ask Dr.?
Do you know what type of labor you want? (Not birth plan, because nothing will go as planned) but meds.vs no meds? What is her/his philosophy on deliveries. Will you meet with all the other drs in the practice so that when you go into labor you will be familiar with whoever is on call?
My only question right now will be does he do VBACs, but that probably won't be relevant for you.
How far will s/he let you go overdue.
If you have to have a C/S will s/he be perfoming it
Will s/he prescribe bedrest for work purposes if you don't feel up to completing the 9th month.
what % of their deliveries are c-sections
It just dawned on me that there was a list thebump created for this topic. Here it is
https://pregnant.thebump.com/pregnancy/first-trimester/qa/what-to-ask-my-OB-at-my-first-appointment.aspx
That is a pretty good list. I am also going to specifically ask about NT scans because it doesn't sound like everyone does them but I would like one so I want to make sure it gets done. My husband doesn't like needles so he is going to ask if he needs to have a blood draw.
I also would like to know what percentage of his patients he is there for the birth.
Number two
Other than what was already listed, I'd ask about how often he/she wants to see you.
I'd also want to know if you have to see all the doctors in the practice or if you'll have the same one each time.
