Vegas?

Would you still go to Vegas when you're pregnant?  DH and I have a trip planned with about 12 of our best friends, and although I obviously won't drink, I still really want to go and have a good time with everyone.  He's worried about the second-hand smoke.  We'd be there 2 full days, one of which we're getting a cabana at the pool.  We'd obviously get a non-smoking room.  So I don't feel like there'd be all that much exposure.  And none of our friends smoke, so it'd just be when we're in the casino and such.  WWYD?

Re: Vegas?

  • I have the same question. I am strongly considering (almost 100% sure I'm going) on a Vegas trip with 8 friends in September. I'll be ~7 months.

I personally don't think the casino smoke will be that bad for a short time. If it is bad, you can always leave, right?

  • I think you'll be fine.  The casinos are so big, you can usually just move away from the smoke.

  • I saw go!!  you deserve to relax and enjoy yourself!  as long as you try to avoid sitting RIGHT next to smokers and breathing it in directly, you (and your baby) will be totally fine!  go, and have fun!!

  • We will be there for Memorial Day weekend. I don't plan on hanging out in the casino because I'm worried about the smoke :( It's SIL's 21st birthday so we are obligated to go.

  • I'll be there at 9wks pg. Pretty sure I'll be the only girl on a big girls trip not drinking. Although I may not be the only one throwing up, lol.

  • I think you should be totally fine! I have been to Vegas a few times and I am pretty sensitive to smoke and I HATE it! I have never had an issue in any of the casino's with smoke. If someone moves next to me who is smoking I just move to a new area and problem solved.

  • With the exception of some of the older casinos located off the Strip, I never encountered any second-hand smoke in a Vegas casino unless I was sitting right next to someone smoking, in which case you can easily move.  There are thousands of machines/tables.  They are so big and so well ventilated, (I swear, some pump in good scents and endorphins through their air systems-haha) you won't even notice smoke.  Go... and have fun!  I'm so jealous!

    lol!

Please give us a trip report when you get back! Have fun!

  • I'd go. Can't you just stay in the smoke-free areas of the casinos? I've never been to Vegas but I'm sure they have smoke-free areas.

  • We are headed there this Saturday and I was thinking of asking this very question. I hate smokers and smoking and yet all my past trips to Vegas haven't bothered me much. The worst is being at a roulette table and having a smoker come up. In that case we just move somewhere else.
