I'm the first to admit that I've been tempted and would not judge someone for losing their temper and doing it on a rare occasion.  I wouldn't judge myself for that, either.  *** happens.

But willingly and consciously hitting a small child is so mean and wrong, imo.  I have no idea how people can defend it.

Olivia is a hard child to discipline.   I've (and I'm embarrassed and ashamed to admit) have spanked on occassion and have regretted it.   It does nothing but teach her to hit and not how to deal with frustration at all.    So....we don't and work VERY hard to discipline in positive/consistent ways, which works.   She's learning so much about how to deal with her emotions in positive ways and how to work through frustration in her every day life.
