For my baby shower, I had a barbeque so naturally I stuffed my face with cheesy weenies grilled. My co-worker is horrified, and says all hot dogs are bad bad bad. I'm a first tri fail, I guess since I plan on having more for lunch yummm! What's your weenie opinion?

I clicked on "off limits", but I will make an exception for bratwursts and knockwursts that I get from the German deli that I trust! What I won't eat are the hot dogs from the vendors on the street here in NYC.

I didn't even ask, she just looked horrified that I said I stuffed my face with grilled cheesy weenies. And said "hot dogs are so bad for pregnancy!"

They were hot, grilled kinda crispy, and OH SO GOOOD. As for nitrates, I eat morning bacon sometimes, so if nitrates is a big fear I'd have to give up ALL pork products.. which I won't. It's all about moderation ladies.

I dont blame you. I'll make a cheesy weenie myself but I'd also skip places like carnivals, fairs, etc. you never quite know how long they set before being served, but that could be said with ANY food coming from someone cooking it other than you. (I dont get paranoid tho, I still enjoy reputable places like resteraunts!)

I LOVE a good grilled hot dog!!!! I don't overindulge and eat more than one in a sitting but if there is a BBQ going, pass me a weiner please!!!!

In my 1st tri, I went to the city and that's all I wanted. I had to dirty water dogs.... NO BREAD!!

I love brats and hotdogs. Actually when i was pg wtih DD, I would crave a hotdog from QuickTrip witch the nacho cheese sauce. I had one at least once a week.

Normally, yes, give me the weenies! But since I have been on high BP watch, they want me to watch my salt, so now they are off limits......but if it weren't for that, I see NOTHING wrong with eating hotdogs while pregnant. I think 1/2 of the no-no's during 1st tri are crap.

I mean they're not a health food by any means and they're generally full of nitrates (not good pregnant or not) but if you grilled them I'm not sure why your friend would be so upset.

According to my dietician, hot dogs are evil and bad for every man woman and child on earth and should NEVER be anything ANYONE considers eating EVER. I love them in mac and cheese, and I can't go to a sporting event and NOT eat one. I love evil hot dogs.

My cousin was worried when I downed a couple of hot dogs at a family function a few weeks ago. My doc said I was fine to eat them as long as they are hot, so I am a guilt free mama!

Now that the weather is warming up and we are grilling out, I am not resisting the call of the evil hot dog. Though I try to eat the turkey dogs (for fat content.)
