Infertility

So excited

I haven't been around much (due to school & work) But I think I will be around alot more now.

Backstory: TTC since about Jan 08, dx with PCOS and a blocked right tube Jan 09. Tried Met.nothing really happened. SA was good. So took a small break.

So Dh and I were talking about TTC with an RE since we are getting a good tax refund. So the plan was in june. But I found out yesterday that since I am a Veteran the Va will pay for all my IF treatments except IVF. I am soo happy so is Dh. So I will soon have an appt. with the RE and get the ball rolling. The last time I talked to the RE (last year) he wanted me to do clomid with u/s. So I assume that will still be the plan.

Big Smile

So here's a few Q's for you ladies.

What was your plan on clomid?

What is the other drug than clomid?

Is there anything you think I should know?

Re: So excited

  • Yippee!!  If you're with Corfman, he'll monitor you and that's most important.  I did clomid for 3 cycles and did femara for 3 cycles.  Fewer s/e on femara.  I had no lining issues with either though.  And will he do the ovidrel trigger with the clomid to better time stuff too?  Good luck!!
  • welcome and good luck!

I always took clomid on CD 5-9 and then would go in for an u/s a week after my last pill (but I also don't ovulate on my own so your plan may be different)

I know that there is also femara which is not suppose to thin your lining like clomid

Some of the side effects are hot flashes and weight gain, but I didn't get any symptoms until the 5th month on it.

Just make sure that your RE is monitoring you!

  • Hi J,

I will be with Dr. Burrell @ innovis. I am soo excited, I cant even explain. I haven't had the 1st appt with him yet, but I know my friend with PCOS did. so I hope we just figure out what combo of drugs & crap that my body needs to O.

Yes he will be monitering me! I'll make sure of that! I don't really want to end up on TLC with my own show! lol

  • Hmm...are they not having Corfman monitor the cycles though?  Burrell is not an RE.  I know one friend who had a really bad IF experience with him, because he put her on clomid at 39 and it was a diaster.  Maybe he's doing better now.  Yeah make sure you're monitored with u/s and b/w and you do a trigger shot to time everything.  That little shot is worth increasing your odds.  In fact isn't he just a ph.d with a nurse midwife certification?  I don't think he's an MD?
