So Eli fell off the bed on Friday morning. He cried, I nursed, he puked, I called the doc and they said if he puked again to take him in. Okay, no biggie. He was fine all day Friday.
I went to work yesterday and called as normal to check in with DH. Around dinner time he told me that Eli had only been up a total of 2-3 hours all day and that he had full-on vomited 8+ times. I told him to call the advice line and see what they said. Next thing I know, I get a text saying they are on their way to CHOA! I basically ran out the door from work....from one ER to another!
Of course, CHOA was great! We were in and out in about 2-1/2 hours. He got a CT - which was negative, some zofran, and they tried to give him pedialtye which he was not going for (that's my boy!). He ended up having a temp of 100.1 (probably from teething) so they are pretty sure the vomiting was just coincidental).
He is perfectly fine today!
It was a wonderful experience, overall. My only annoyance came when the nurse told me that if he ever vomits again I should stop giving him milk (meaning breastmilk) and give him pedialyte instead. WRONG. BM is considered a clear liquid and is much better for his tummy than pedialyte. Also, she obviously doesn't read her own discharge instructions because it even says in there that if the baby is breast-fed that you just do small (2-3 min) frequent (every 15-30 min) feedings if they are vomiting until they don't vomit for 4 hours and then return to normal nursing. But I restrained myself and didn't pick a fight. ![]()
Here's a pic of my "sick" baby...the happiest kid in the whole freakin' ER!
