If your DC has asthma, what cleaning products do you use?

DS (3.5 yrs) was recently diagnosed with asthma.  Today while cleaning I noticed that some of my cleaning products say "not for use by those with asthma".  I hadn't even thought of that, and the Dr never mentioned anything, but now I definitely want to get some asthma friendly products.  Any suggestions?

  • I use mostly vinegar for cleaning. I love that I am not coughing on chemicals and that dd who is attached to my hip at all times is safe around it. There are tons of sites out there that offer different recipes and uses for vinegar as a homemade cleaner.

  • Hi there, the whole cleaning products area is a difficult one for those suffering fron asthma and allergies, sufferers are recommended to clean in order to remove triggers/allergens, but the products that they are required to use are often inappropriate. This applies to both 'traditional' chemical based cleaners as well as 'green' cleaning products. Both these types of products can contain ingredients that may be unsuitable for those suffering from asthma or allergies. Truly 'green' cleaning products are more suitable for the environment, however, if they contain ingredients to which a person is allergic then they may cause a reaction. My advice is to read the label carefully, if the product does not contain anything to which you are allergic it is probably safer to use than a product that does
