Babies: 0 - 3 Months

The spot where the IV was placed still hurts

It kind of throbs here and there on a regular basis. Today it hurts a little bit more than usual. It's annoying.

Anyone else still feels something where your IV was?

  • I don't think it should hurt one month out. I would mention it at your next appointment,

  • I would call the dr - that sounds odd.

  • Yes, I find it pretty strange I still feel something 6 weeks pp. It's more of a throbbing sensation. I will def give my doctor a call on Monday.

  • put a heating pad on the spot and see if that helps alleviate the pain.

  • I had a c/s and didn't have morphine in my spinal. So 2 hours after my c/s I was screaming in pain - they had to give me morphine in my IV.

My vein blew on the second dose and all of the IV fluids built up in my arm (they didn't realize it happened until the next dose). The second dose in the other arm also blew my vien.

The first arm felt like it was broken for 5 weeks and it's still sore. I actually have a little bump that feels like a bruise when pressure is applied. The other vein still feels bruised as well and you can see that it's bruised.

LO was in the NICU for 12 days and I didn't rest at all. I was up walking across the hospital to see him 12 hours after my c/s (because it was too difficult in a wheel chair with the IV) and never rested. I'm sure that's why it's taken so long to heal.

It's funny that my incision from the c/s feels better than the IV locations.

Wow. I HATED having the IV on and I would have went crazy if this happened to me.

I am glad you and your baby are doing better.
