What would you do for "80s" style decorations?

I am the team leader for a Rest Stop during the Boston Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this year, and I think we are going with an 80s theme (all the Rest Stops have themes - very fun).

We will be outside (there are tables and two large tents we are using) and could potentially have any type of weather (it snowed one year and was 90 degrees the next year - ah, New England Smile)

Anyway, I am trying to come up with fun decoration ideas. Obviously we are all going to have banana clips, etc, in our hair, have 80s music playing, and I think we are going to put up pictures of 80s hearthrobs in the porta-potties (yes, porta potty decorating is part of the job).

Any other thoughts? Things to put on tables, post on trees or tent poles, etc?

  • I think you need some great shades, and leg warmers. I would think neon decorations would be good... but specifically, I am not sure.
  • Random things coming to mind -

rubix cubes, gameboys, walkmen, mix tapes, fluorescent everything, jelly bracelets, ratted hair, blue mascara, flashdance ripped shirts, leggings, mini skirts (gee, sounds like now), trapper keepers,

  • Loading the player...
  • oh and for garland you could rip out a few cassette tapes & dangle it all everywhere.

  • You could use some CareBears.  They are 80s and the walk is about caring about others.
