Yay! Bought our compost bin today

I bought a 65 gallon compost bin for $30 today. Still have to put it together, but I've already started collecting stuff in my countertop pail (banana peel and coffee grounds).

I am so excited about this! Now I just need our rain barrel and I'll be set!

  • I need a rain barrel.  I'm thinking of having DH make one because you can DIY for crazy cheap.

I have a Soilsaver and love it.  It was $40.

We recently canceled our trash service and bought two of them :)

That looks nice. We have one that we got at costco a couple of years ago and it is always full. We are looking for another one and that one looks nice. Dh has his heart set on a tumbler...but those are freakin spendy!

  • I got ours at Menards.

The tumbler one was $99....that would be nice, but too $$$ for me :(

I wanted one of those, but DH said no.  Then I later read (more than one place) that they get so heavy that they are hard to turn.

  • The SoilSaver is the one my sister just got at Sams Club. I looked, but our Sams Club didn't have any in store.

They have a bunch on their website though.

Yea, we bought ours from them online and had them shipped.  It was free to ship :)

they SO are! if ours is more than half full, it is nearly impossible.

  • Thanks for posting about Sam's club.  I had kind of written that off as an option because of the cost of shipping but according to their website, they should have the soilsaver at our local store.  I'm super excited.  Hoping I can talk DH into this!
