Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Tell me daycare will be okay!

I'm having a rough day emotionally... just thinking about DD going to daycare in a few weeks has had me crying all day.

If you went back to work at 6-8 weeks and had to put your LO in daycare, how did you do it? Does it get easier as time goes on? I know I'm whiny today... I don't have a choice but to go back to work and I HATE the thought of not seeing her all day.

Re: Tell me daycare will be okay!

  • It will be fine, I promise.  My 2 year old practically runs out the door in the morning to go.

Remember too that these people are good at their jobs and your DD isn't the first baby they've taken care of.  If she's upset they know what to do to make it better!

GL!  It will be tough for you for a little bit but slowly it will be better!

  • Hey my dear!! I COMPLETELY understand your emotions behind this (I get totally emotional thinking about dropping him off with my MIL when I go back to work, and I still have another six weeks!!). But the LO will be okay, definitely. It is harder on us as moms than it is on them, I think. It will get easier... the first few days will be the hardest.

When are you going back to work??

  • Ugh! I am there with you! I go back in 3 weeks and the thought is killing me!  I wan tot cry when I think about not seeing her all day - and not knowing what shes doing or that shes ok... :(

    GL!

  • It does get easier when you get into the routine of it. The first day was the worst. The first week was not fun because he was so worn out from being in daycare all he wanted to do at home was sleep. But once we both got used to it, it hasn't been so bad. I can get through my day at work, and the days don't drag by as much as they did in the beginning. And now, DS is napping well in daycare, too, so he's ready to play with me and DH when we get home.
