The previous post just happened to remind me of this girl I took care of at work. She was a younger girl who had planned all along to FF, but the call light was on and she asked me to come down to her room. She was only 1 or 2 day post-partum, when I walked into her room she was almost in tears because her breasts hurt so bad. I have never seen someone so engorged in my life! Her baby was a NICU, and after I talked with her and educated her on breastfeeding and how beneficial it would be for her little one in the NICU, she decided that we would try pumping and see how it would go.
I kid you not, we got her hooked up to the pump and we got 14oz of breastmilk out! At 1-2 days post-partum! I kept up with the girl even after she was discharged, because baby was in the NICU. I was able to help her to get the little one latched on for the first time, and everything ended up working out great for her. After the first week or so her supply leveled out and she successfully breastfed her little one!
I couldn't believe the 14oz we got, we were in shock!
