I have friends who had twins 6 weeks early. They were born Mar 21st. and as of Mar 30th they were still under 4lbs (one was 3lb 4oz the other was right under 4lbs). I'm making them some onesies. Should I use the preemie size or the newborn.
If you're putting effort into making them I would do 0-3 months. They can get a lot more use out of them that way. They grow out of the preemie stuff so fast!
Unless, of course you want it to fit now. Then do preemie.
I would definitely go with the 0 - 3 month size. I bought my daughter all the preemie clothes she needed while in the hospital and after she came home, she was already in the newborn size.

I'd do newborn or 0-3. DD came home from the nicu at 3lbs 12 oz, but started plumping up so fast that she wasn't in preemie for long! She was in newborn for about 3 months, though. Since the boys sound like they'll be around 5 lbs when discharged, that's around newborn size. They're going to grow so quickly!
newborn fit my daughter for quite a long time.... she wasn't in 0-3 until she was about 4-6 months old or so. (depending on the brand. gerber is TINY, circo is HUGE.)
fit now, preemie, fit soon, newborn, fit later and longer 0-3.

Ditto. DD's preemie clothes fit for about 5-6 weeks. Then she was in newborn (still in some!) until 3 months.

This is what DD was like, too. She was 3lb 14oz when she came home, grew out of her preemie stuff within the first month or so of coming home, and wore newborn for about 3 months while we suffered through some reflux and breast milk supply issues. However, we recently switched to high-cal formula and she's been growing like crazy. I think she'll be in 0-3 for about 2 months total. I would also add that most of our gift clothes were in a size 0-3 and we had no preemie clothes at all and minimal newborn stuff, so I would have really appreciated either of those. She actually wore out some of her newborn stuff lol.
