AW: a co-worker anti-vent :)

So I started a new teaching job and found out I was pregnant the week school started. I was debating taking a two week paid maternity leave or unpaid leave for longer, when my co-workers informed me that I could get donated sick leave. I can receive up to 5 days from each person who wants to donate. I didn't have too high of hopes because that's a whole lot to ask of new co-workers, but today I hit 20 donated days and my union rep says she thinks more are coming! I don't even know some of the people, or even work at the same school building as them!

I'm so relieved and excited, it looks like I'll be able to take the week off before I'm due, and have a 6 week paid maternity leave that runs right into summer break [:-D]

that's so great! after 9-11 the company I worked for allowed employees to donate sick leave so we could continue to get paid while the Lower Manhattan rehab went on. I'll always be grateful for everyone who did that.

I can't even explain how huge it is for us. On top of still getting my salary, DH will be able to work a little extra because I will be home with the baby (Our plan is to split days/evenings when I'm working so he'll be part time then) We're trying very hard to get 100% out of debt, and this will really help. Not to mention I get to be home with my new baby, which I think I still can't even comprehend what's happening in the next 2-4 weeks anyway!
