Anyone else lose weight when they started the GD diet? I am only down about 2 pounds in a week and a half, but I guess I'm a little suprised. My stomach has grown outward. I see my dr tonight for my 30 week appt so I will see what she says. Either it's my body adjusting to the diet or I was eating way too much crap before. LOL

Re: Losing weight when starting GD diet?
Yes completely normal. I actually lost 8 lbs (talk about me eating junk foods) and a month later am just now back to gaining 1 lb a week. Went to my Dr today and she said I have only gained 26 during this pregnancy which she was very happy with. I will definatly and hopefully be keeping it within the 30-35 range before delivery. They want me to gain 1 lb a week here on out.
High risk Dr told me that those 8 lbs was mostly water weight. The only person who seemed worried was the nutritionist - they were worried I wasn't getting enough food. My stomach has shrank, so all is well in my opinion.
Hope that helps a bit

I lost 7 pounds total between my initial diagnosis and my most recent appointment 5 weeks later - I had initially lost 10 according to my home scale, so I guess I put 3 back on after getting used to the diet. The maternity coach through my insurance didn't think that was a problem and said as I was losing any weight, the baby would gain it, or something like that. I think I am only up about 10 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight, but the doctor didn't want me to gain more than 12-15 anyway since I started heavy.
I have my growth u/s on the 20th, so I guess I'll see how the baby is growing then...
Yup, I've lost about 8 lbs, which was all the weight I'd gained, plus 2 lbs. I'm now officially -12 lbs for the pregnancy, based on my doctor's scale.
At my last appointment the nurse asked me if I felt like I was getting enough to eat. I was like No, you took away my bagels and pasta, lol!! Sadly, i'm sure i'm getting enough, it's just less than what i was eating before.
For me I'm sure it's due in large part to eating a lot of crap and carbs before, plus adding more exercise since the GD dx. Pregnancy seems to have put my metabolism into overdrive (which I really took advantage of after the m/s died down) because i've never had a problem gaining weight, and was overweight to begin with. I have an ultrasound next week though, so hopefully we'll see that the baby's still growing fine.

i have lost about 4lbs in 3 weeks. my ob is not thrilled as i have maintained my weight through pregnancy (i was overweight to start with).
right now i can not really eat many carbs (if any) with lunch or dinner without going over my target numbers so my endocronologist upped my insulin and we are hoping that will help.
