Would you drive a half hour for $75?

I'm selling something on CL.  I said in the ad that I'd be willing to meetup locally.  By locally, I meant my city.  I got one response from a lady who says she has a 10 day old baby and she doesn't feel comfortable driving to a place she doesn't know.  Thing is, the city she's in is a half hour away from me.  That would mean putting both kids in the car and dragging them with me for $75.

Is it worth it?  I've had a few other responses, but no one else has responded back when I said that it was available.  She wants to meetup tomorrow.

Re: Would you drive a half hour for $75?

  • Absolutely.  I drove around for 3 hours one night, making deliveries, because it saved me about $125 in delivery fees.  So, yea, 30 minutes for $75...well worth it.

    Be safe though!  :)

  • Is there someplace half way you can meet up - parking lot of a grocery store for example?

  • Why not UPS or FedEx it COD?
  • definitely....30 minutes is nothing for me considering I live in the boonies and drive at least 20 minutes to the nearest supermarket

  • I probably would.  The place where I donate stuff, if I don't sell it, is about that far away anyway.
  • A half hour is really not bad. I would do it.

Is there anything to do with the kids where you are meeting her? Like could you make a day out of it? I wouldn't mind 30 mins if I could take the kids some place new and fun.
  • I'm guessing she lives in this city she's asked me to meet her at.  I'm not going to her house.  We'll be meeting in the parking lot of a mall.

For me, a half hour is FOREVER in the car with my 16 month old.  She's a holy terror and hates riding in the car for longer than 10 minutes.  I don't want to wait until DH gets home, because then it'll be too dark out.  Hmmm.  I guess I should just do it.

  • 30 minutes is nothing around here. I live in the city and with traffic, it can take 30 minutes to go less than 10 miles ::grumbles about the 1 hour and 20 minute drive that only spanned 14 miles yesterday:::. But if you dont want to do that, can't she meet you halfway in a parking lot of a store you both know, etc?

  • I wouldn't because it will take an hour out  of my day.  Can't she come to you on the weekend with someone.

  • Yes, I would & have driven that far to make a CL sale.  As long as she is 100% positive that she wants to buy it.

I would do that willingly bc I like to listen to talk radio but then when you say that your little girl hates the car I'd say no!  Both of mine like the car well enough.

  • Hm.  Probably not in this circumstance.  Being paid $75/hour is not bad, but you're not being *paid*, you're selling something, so you're losing the product plus the time.
  • I would and I have, but most things are 20 min from me anyways.
  • 30 minutes is no time at all.  Anywhere I go is about that long so no big deal.  Maybe she IS meeting you half way.
