Not eff - Bleeding and pumping?

Anyone start bleeding while pumping? Today it happened for the second time. Not fun. Should I use some lanolin like the good 'ol newborn days? Or will that get all over the pump parts?

Is it possible to pump too much?

I'm so close to the finish line...only 18 days to go before I start weaning from pumping. Bleeding does not help make the time go by any faster!

  • I would definitely use lanolin. It never happened to me, but I have heard from people that lanolin helps. GL!
  • It has happened to me before.  I would use the Lanolin.  Hope it heals up soon - you're in the home stretch!

  • use lanolin before AND after each pumping session.  and if you can go bra-less at home, do that so your nips can breathe a bit.

good luck!  i bled when i pumped, but it was b/c the 'cones' where the wrong size and they were rubbing my nips too much.

  • Ouch! I had tiny bits of blood when I was first nursing and getting pretty dry and chewed on. Lanolin should help you not crack & bleed, though I preferred this stuff over the straight lanolin in a tube because it's easier to get onto sore nips.
  • thanks all! luckily it doesn't hurt too much. maybe i've had the wrong sized cones all these months?? although my left one has shrunk considerably and that's the one that bled last time too. i bet that's the problem! thanks!
