PL post

W is 21 months. We can generally have him pee on command, but only in small amounts - and with a great deal of (very cute) concentration on his part.

I know he's not particularly near PL. But I guess I'm wondering about how far, developmentally speaking, it is to go beteween being able to pee at will, and knowing when they will pee, so being able to control it?

(Please don't tell me we're close than I think, I'm so not ready to deal with it! )

Re: PL post

  • As far as I've read/heard, it takes 2 things from the kid: the ability to control the muscles (which it sounds like you have) and the ability to recognize and communicate the need to go.  You can cultivate the second by talking about what you do on the potty and asking whether they need to go and such.  It sounds like you're close, but still a month or more away and you can either help move it along or not at your leisure.  Of course, its not like DD is using the potty every time, so I could just be completely full of it Stick out tongue

  • We're trying to PL right now. At this point, I don't think she's getting the feeling of when she needs to pee because she's letting us know after the fact. Because we're letting her run around naked, there's clean-up involved! However, last night she has sat on the potty by herself so she would poop! She missed it once today (almost made it!), but otherwise, it's a work in progress.
