Any tips to help with the engorgement? My Pedi recommended switching to BF every other feeding for a few days, but is there anything else that will help with the pain to switching to FF?
I just did cold turkey! ..I took ibprofin for the pain of engorgment, and I wore cabbage in my bra( which STINKS..lol). I also wore the tightest sports bra and stayed away from hot water and the shower. It took 2 days till the engorgment went away and about 5 till they were back to normal size!
I asked my doc about this last week for when I go back to work. He recommended weaning off one feeding per week so that way the engorgement isn't too bad. Not sure if you're trying for a specific time frame. I'm hoping to BF until DS is 6 months old, but he's going to daycare at 4 months when I go back to work. So, I'll start weaning about 2 weeks before I return to work so that we're then skipping his 2 feedings during the day.
