tingling in fingers?

My twins are 3 weeks old today and this morning I woke up with a pins-and-needles sensation in my right thumb and forefinger. I figured I'd just been sleeping on them but it's been an hour and I can't make the tingling go away, no matter what I do. I know carpal tunnel is common during pregnancy, but I didn't have it or any symptoms like this. Has anyone else experienced this postpartum? Did it resolve? I developed high blood pressure at the end of my pregnancy and it has persisted so I'm now on BP meds twice a day ... am just hoping this isn't related somehow.

Thanks!

Re: tingling in fingers?

  • I have had this going on since 32 ish weeks. It is still there and slowly going away. It is really annoying! I did have high BP and pre-e at the end, no idea if they are related!

  • I have had post-partum carpel tunnel with both my pregnancies.  The first time it resolved by 4 wks, this time by about 10 wks.  It can be related to pre-e/high bp b/c the swelling in your wrists is caused by retained fluid and at least for me high bp = more swelling.   Also if you were pumped full of fluids in the hospital that can contribute to the swelling too. If you are only getting it at night when you sleep on your hands funny, it's not too bad.  You can wear wrist braces to keep your wrists straight at night and this should help.  I had the tingling feeling all the time but it would get worse at night.
