If your husband had a vaccectomy...

How was the recovery for him? DH goes in of Friday for his. My mom is watcihng our DS for us for the day but then I'm worried about the rest of the weekend. DS is only 16 months old so I can't tell him "don't jump on Daddy" and have him listen, not to mention he won't understand why Daddy can't pick him up for a few days. Do you think it's easier to have DH stay in a bedroom and tell LO that Daddy isn't home or let him see DH but just not let him up on the bed. (I'm not sure which is harder on him).

  • Oops sorry I guess I should learn to spell the procedure first, sorry. : )

  • My husband had one and the recovery was very easy for him.  He slept for about 3 hours after the procedure (I believe they give them valium to relax him...it just made him tired) but was fine the next day.  He said he was a little sore the for a few days, but he continued playing with the girls and his normal routines.

  • think about what you went through... I couldn't NOT pick up my older daughter w/ in a day of labor with the second, getting a little snip won't hurt him that much.  I know a friend of the family who went dancing that night- wacky I know!   He'll be fine.
  • DH had it done on a Friday and went back to work on Monday. He was sore for a couple days but just kept ice on it and took some advil.

DS was 20 months and DD was 3 months. I just told DS that daddy was hurt and he had to be careful when he was sitting with daddy. He did really well.  DH couldn't pick him up but DH stayed on the couch most of the time so I would sit DS next to DH and that seemed to work.

Pretty much this exactly, ages and everything. The first couple of days were really easy for DH. He sat on the couch and relaxed for two days and iced and said the whole time that he felt fine. But then the third day after was Thanksgiving and he was up and walking around and carrying the kids...then he was really sore for the next 3 days or so. But then after that he woke up and was pain free. DS would just sit on the couch with DH did well with it.
