Risks of getting pregnant too soon?

Are there any potential risks of getting pregnant too soon?  I EBF and had a feeling that I jsut may be pregnant.   I am getting a faint line on a pregnancy test. Thanks for any input.

Re: Risks of getting pregnant too soon?

  • My kids will be less than a year apart so I got pregnant around 3 months pp.  I asked the doctor about it and the only thing she mentioned was that there might be some concerns if I had had a c-section since the healing might not be done.  Ask your doctor.  I'm sure they deal with it a lot.
  • My pregnancies were 12 months apart...I am not sure of any major risks, but I do know the second pregnancy was a lot harder on my body...my pelvic muscles were obviously a lot weaker which meant a s*** ton of more pain...especially when I started getting really huge...for me...that was the only major draw back in regards to having close pregnancies.

  • It can take up to 12 weeks for your HcG to be gone after a delivery, but not normally.

I would call the OB today to find out what is going on.

  • I see you had a csection from your badge.  I had one as well and felt completely healed by about a month out.  My doctor did mention to me that they recommend waiting at least 6 months before getting pregnant again, but he also noted that was only a recommendation.  If you find out you are pregnant then they probably won't let you try to vbac because of how close they are.  That is the only potential risk I can think of...besides being tired and pregnant while taking care of a newborn Wink

    Ditto this.

I'd call your OB for beta hcg draws.

There's a strong chance that line could be left over from your daughter.

With both my miscarriages my hcg took over a month to come all the way down to not being detectable on a pee stick and my levels with my m/c's would have been way lower than yours right after delivery.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • I was told 6 months by my OB.
  • I'd have a blood draw ASAP. I'm not sure what the risks are, but having had several back-to-back pregnancies, I can say, each one is harder and harder on your body, and the closer together mine have been, the harder they've been.
