I was at my moms for Easter and slid down her stairs. I had on flat sandals and she has brand new carpet so it was a recipe for disaster. I only slid a few stairs and fell on my butt, so I didn't think it was too big of a deal. After that I had a lot of bh contractions that turned into really painful contrax. I went in to l&d and they monitored me for a few hours. I kept having contractions so they gave me a shot of tetrabutrine (sp?) and hooked me up to an iv. Good news was I didn't dialate at all and was not effaced. Apparently I have an "irritable uterus." They made me stay overnight in postpartum just to play it safe. The babies are fine, they are little rascals they move around so much that it was impossible to monitor them with the external dopplers. I'm home now, still waiting on one test that tells you if any fetal blood is mixed in with mine. They fully expect it to be negative so they let me go.
Anyways, I just want everyone to be careful, I thought because my sandals were flat they would be fine, but they are way too slippery to be wearing when your equilibrium is off.
Re: Spent Easter in L&D after a fall
glad you are OK!
falling was one of my biggest fears - esp on stairs - i was (and still am when holding babies) super careful on stairs- holding railings tight, going slowly, etc.
I was pg during the winter with tons of ice- that scared the crap out of me.
be careful- and glad you and babies are ok! Sorry about Easter
Oh no! So glad your LOs are a-ok. i just bought 3 pairs of flip-flops....my feet are so puffy....and it's getting harder to get on socks/shoes. I'm always nervous on our stairs (they are not carpeted, and worried a fall would be a hard one).
Take good care.
