Clothing question (if you CD)

Where do you all buy pants for your LO if you CD? I had bought a bunch of sweatpants for Ari from Children's Place this winter that fit great, but they're too hot for him now. They don't have any casual pull on pants except wind pants, & that material is too sweaty in the spring & summer here. I bought one pair of American Apparel karate pants but the fit sucks - too big in the waist & they shrunk a ton!

I'm looking for just casual pull on pants that are cotton.

Re: Clothing question (if you CD)

  • Target's Circo brand seems to fit DD pretty true to size (i.e., she wears their size 9/6-9 now).  I also like Gap but they are pricy IMO for what you get...I mean they are tiny pants c'mon!  Oh and Carters.  I get a lot of Carter's soft pants at consignment/thrift stores.  Pretty much anything cotton knit will work so long as they aren't "leggings" -- but I assume they don't make leggings for boys Smile

  • i usually buy only used clothing (consignment stores, garage sales, etc) but the black yoga-like Circo brand pants (i believe sold at Target) are the BEST!  my dd wears one size lower (like her shirts are 24 mos but she can still wear the 12 or 18 month pants), cuz they are so stretchy, and that is even with the CD. they're just cotton i think, not super light for summer but not hot either.

  • So far Circo has been the only brand that fits over his diaper.  We do have one pair of shorts that fit really well, but the tags are missing so I have no idea what brand they are.

  • Carter's makes stretchy pants, as does Gerber.  We have some that are sets and some just the pants.  I also put him in "regular" pants that are sized up and roll the legs.
  • carter's has been our best "bang for the buck" ... they fit great over cds & wear longer/nicer than gerber or circo
  • Maybe I will try the Carter's & Circo's again. Ari was wearing them before (we have a Carter's outlet close by & I'm always hunting for bargains @ Target) but they just didn't seem to fit right once we started CDing.

Completely agree with that.  Carter's are usually nice enough for me to consign back.  Circo - not so much.  But they are usually pretty cheap and even better if you can snag them on clearance.

  • We mostly skip pants and do babylegs unless it's really cold. Their new line is a waffle weave so they breathe and have UV protection.

They're good because the CDs are so fluffy, and then when you EC (if you EC) or just do the diaper change you don't have to pull off pants.

I have a pair, though, from Nordstrom that are Tea - like the karate pants from American Apparel but slimmer in the waist, longer in the legs, and didn't shrink. Got them on sale for more than Carters or Circo full price, but the way they're holding up is totally worth it.

  • I like the circo knit stuff too but Children's Place is my current fav.  I just got several pairs of their knit shorts (they were 3 for $15 I think) - they are perfect over CDs.  I love the wind pants this winter too.
  • DD has never been able to fit into any of the Target brand jeans.  We've really only been buying from consignment stores so we can get the name brand ones that fit for cheap!  So far we've had good luck with Guess, Gymboree & The Children's Place.  My DD has seriously chunky thighs so that's one of the things we have to account for.
  • Ari is the same w/ the chunky thighs! He has a fairly skinny waist, long rise, & chunkamunk thighs. I have a really hard time finding pants that fit him well.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Off to shop!
