How do you find out about yard sales in your area (or do you just drive around hoping to spot them?) In the past, we've always just happened upon them, but we're moving and need some furniture (on the cheap).

I LOVE yard sailing! And there are always a bunch in my area. We should go out together some Thursday morning!
Where are you moving?
I would love to go with you!
We bought a house in Eastwood in the city. So, not too far from where we are now, but we're in an apartment now, and definitely ready for something of our own. Although, now I am panicing because we are supposed to close at the end of the month and have given notice at the apartment, but I was just reading all the posts about closings being delayed...

Congrats on the house! Just keep on top of your attorney and your mortgage lender! It is usually the mortgage that holds up closings. And don't pay too much attension to what ppl say on the Nest Home Buying board, real estate transactions in Upstate NY is like no place else in the country. It is actually more problematic here. And remember the closing date on the purchase offer is an on or about date, not exact!
I know Raddisson in Baldwinsville has their huge garage sale in May sometime. So if you are still looking around then, it's pretty good - just drive around the neighborhood & hop from sale to sale!

I look in the newspaper. I would also suggest Craigslist. We got a ton of furniture on there.
