WWYD re dinner?

I have some stew meat in some red wine on the stove on low. I've added salt, marjoram, basil & garlic.

What do I serve it with later?  Mashed potatoes, polenta (which my family wasn't crazy about but didn't hate) or pasta?  I'm going to add in something to the stew meat...probably a bag of mixed italian veggies.

  • Garlic mashed potatoes.

  • What about serving it with buttered egg noodles?
  • I like either Papa's or Love's suggestions.  You could also serve it over rice.

I should...but my dad hates rice and tonight I'm not up for the negative comments.

Maybe I will do the potatoes and some yummy bread.  Or maybe I should tell them to figure it out and go nap. Stick out tongue

    I second this.
  • Can I come have dinner at your house?  I don't care what you decide to serve with the meat!

DH and I are drooling after reading this post!

    Sure. lol

But literally...this is a meal that I am making up as I go.  I'm already sore from this weekend and OT this morning so I'm just trying to plan ahead.  It really isn't anything fancy.  Heck...I'm using a big bag of frozen veggies.  No chopping or thinking really.

But if you really want to make your husband drool make this.  It was SO yummy!  The only thing I did different was add in about 1/4-1/2 a tsp of thyme to bring out some earthy flavor.  Perfection. Oh...and stir it the whole time. That was a trick I remembered from the cooking school chef.  It makes for a creamier polenta.

  • Mmmm...buttered egg noodles.  Comfort food at its finest.
  • with the veggies you're doing i'd probably go for mashed potatoes.... normally i like my beef stew over egg noodles, though.
