South Florida Babies

DS kicked me on the side of my belly =(

Logan kicked me, by mistake, right next to my hip bone. It hurts a bit (nothing terrible now) and now I am terrified that he could have hurt the baby. It was on the side of my belly right next to the groin area so i'm hoping its ok (i mean, it wasn't right in the middle of the belly). I am not bleeding or anything and DH thinks everything is fine. Maybe I am just scared because my mom told me the other day of some pregnant lady was playing on the floor with her toddler and the toddler kicked the mom's belly by mistake and killed the baby. Maybe I am just paranoid! I have an appt on Wednesday so I hope everything is fine.

  • I'm sure everything is fine :) Remember how insulated the baby is in there. He/she is cushioned by layers of fat, muscle, and plenty of amniotic fluid. I bet they didn't even feel a thing, and if they did, they better get used to taking a few kicks and hits now and then from big bro!

  • Try not to worry too much! If your DH is not too concerned then you should relax. I always worry more about things if my DH gets really worried too - he's my gauge! ;)

You can always call the dr's office tomorrow to see if you can move up your appointment or just ask them what they think.

  • I have never heard of such a story!

I have been kicked and bumped into really hard and my babies are fine! If you are concerned called your OB.

It's probably not the last itme this will happen to you!

Ditto this! I remember being pregnant & one of my yorkies jumping on me & kicking my belly hard with one of her paws. I was so scared (she's rough) & started googling all sorts of stuff trying to convince myself everything was ok. Everything said the same thing Jen said above- babies are so insulated they don't feel a thing!
  • Thank you girls! I am more relaxed now. Its probably nothing. I will call the OB tomorrow to let him know but I am sure he will say the same thing (that the baby is cushioned inside). Thanks!

This! I fell once in Key West when I was 7 months pregnant with Sophie. I was able to shield my belly from the brunt of my fall but still landed hard. Luckily, she was a mover and shaker so I knew she was okay pretty quickly....but that being said, you will be fine and your baby is fine. I think you would to be kicked really hard in the middle of your belly and pretty far along in your pregnancy for any real damage to be done.

    GL at your doctor's appt!
