Ok, this is a two parter...?

1. I reaaaallly want to try cloth diapering with my daughter when she's born. This is our first child and the whole diapering system is a little overwhelming. There is so much to choose from. Any advice on how I should go about this??

2. I'm looking for a small practice pediatrician in the Suwanee/Lawrenceville area. Any recs?

We cloth diaper our LO, and have since she was around 2 months old.  I really wish I had had the courage to have started earlier, but I will next time!  We LOVE it.  We primarily use prefolds and thirsties diaper covers.  It's probably the most economical way to go.  I can't even begin to tell you how much money we've saved CDing so far.  I'd definitely recommend heading to this blog https://www.theecofriendlyfamily.com/2009/08/mother-load-everything-you-need-to-know.html

We didn't start to cloth diaper until Sean was a little older because I was overwhelmed by the options, then he came way early and then I was just trying to cope with having a newborn and had no time for exhaustive research. However, once we made the switch I was SO happy and wished that we'd done it from the beginning. I went the easy route and just bought BumGenius 3.0 AIO. They required less labor (stuffing) and less pieces, etc. They also look so much like a regular diaper that they aren't intimidating to husbands, grandparents or even our preschool (I convinced them to let us use them there even though they NEVER had before with anyone else - I just showed them how easy they were).

I ordered FuzziBunz and BG's and didn't like the FuzziBunz. Many of the girls on the bump have done the cloth diaper trial from Jillian's Drawers so that they can sample different kinds and decide what they like before committing. LINK

Also, diaperswappers.com has a TON of info although I found that kind of overwhelming at times. A lot of people suggest buying a few different types to try to see what you and baby like. Also, if your baby is small to start, you may want something tailored for smaller ones at first and then switch to one of the "normal" ones. Some people had issues with certain brans because their kids had skinny or chubby legs, so they really suggested trying a couple of different kinds.

We have used CD since the beginning with DS. My advice is to borrow or rent a set of new born diapers (we used kissaloves - or something like that) until he was about 12 pounds. However, the bum genious 3.0 we use could have started at 8 pounds. Either use disposables until 8 pounds or rent the little ones.The kissaloves were great but it would have been a better use of $ to rent them -- Cloth diapers are REALLY NOT THAT HARD!! I promise!! You are changing a diaper no more often than with a disposable and there is no poop sitting around the house to smell. I LOVE not contributing a disposable diaper to the landfill 5 or 6 times a day.  A little advice:

1) Get a sprayer attachment for your toilet and that will take care of 90% of the poop-y diapers, and the ones that are just wet are easy. 

2) Order several different sizes of wet bags (go to etsy). Order one large one that you can use as a "diaper pail". It has a hook and we hang it on the closet door

3) Order 12 diapers and see how many you use in a day - you can always order more later

No  advice on the pedi sorry but we are going to be CDing as well.  We've decided to use Atlanta Diaper Service with pre-fitted diapers and then the waterproof covers.  I bought 6 covers from jillian's drawers.  2 are the ones that "grow" with the baby and the other 4 were a sample pack in newborn size to see which ones LO would like.  DH was supportive of CDing but squeamish about washing them in our washer so that limited our options a little bit.  Also, if you're planning on using day care ask if they are willing to use cloth diapers and what type as that may impact your decision as well.  Check out the EFF board also, they've got great advice too!
