Vacation Stroller Question....

I know this was asked a while ago but it did not pertain to me then :)

We're getting the Bugaboo Cameleon for the baby. Well my SIL is buying it for us. We're planning on taking a trip to Disney in December and I don't want to take that stroller with me since you have to leave it outside rides and shows etc. I think I recall the majority vote was if you had a more expensive stroller you had a cheaper one for such occasions. I want to put it on my registry so can you all recommend with one you have?

THANKS!

Re: Vacation Stroller Question....

  • I have the mesh (for the heat) Maclaren exactly for this reason and love it!
  • Loading the player...
  • I have the Bugaboo Bee which cheaper then the Chameleon but not a cheap stroller and so far, it's been to every Disney park, SeaWorld, Jungle Island, & the Miami Seaquarium. At first I was worried and thought I would buy a Maclaren for these kind of trips, but then I decided that I might as well use MY stroller with it's full recline and huge sunshade. I want to get the most use for my money and so I take it pretty much everywhere and honestly don't worry about parking it anymore.

The only problem I'd see with the Chameleon is the two part fold if you don't stay on Disney and have to lug it on a tram or something. Other then that- I've seen several Bugaboo's at Disney (as well as other pricey strollers).

  • I love my stroller (Baby Jogger City Mini) and I think it would make an excellent Disney stroller because of how compact and light it folds. But while it's much, much cheaper than the Bugaboo, I don't know if that's what you meant by "cheap" (it's $200-something). When I was considering getting a bigger, more expensive stroller, I asked on here about cheaper, lightweight options for trips and stuff, and I remember hearing good things about the Chicco Capri and the Maclaren Volo. You can get both for under a hundred bucks.

  • they also sell stroller locks if you're worried!  We used it on our stroller (not an expensive stroller at all- it's a graco) and I also saw them on quite a few strollers (include city mini doubles and bugaboos.)  they allow you to lock your stroller wheels but still make it easy for the cast members to move your stroller if need be.

btw, at disney, there was ALWAYS someone out by the strollers keeping an eye on them.  granted, they don't know if you are taking your own or someone else's, but it's at least nice to know.  Someone else made a good point a while back- if you're going to a park, you probably have your own stroller.  Why would you lug someone else's stroller around the park?  lol  And your stroller is going to be pretty unique- i saw the cute stuff you ordered for it!0 you can always make sure you put your last name somewhere on the stroller, just in case, as well!

  • Justine, my friend has a Combi and loves it!....I think it's under $100 nd ehr baby looks happy in it!

You know they also sell cute locks you can use for your stroller...that may do the trick too!

  • I have a Mac Quest and love taking it to Disney. It reclines which was a must just in case Mikey would fall asleep at the park, it doesn't go all the way down but it goes far enough where he can fall asleep comfortably.
  • I have the Mac Volo (doesn't lean back at all, but it's mesh so it's great) and the Peg Perego Si. We take the Si to Disney because it fully reclines and it has a huge sunshade, it's also light and folds compactly. I love that stroller, it's not super cheap either though, ($250). Disney has a LOT of expensive strollers though so I wouldn't worry much, the people there watch them really well. They sell stroller locks (at BBB) like Jenny mentioned.

this exactly!!! remember the chameleon is two part...therefore a mission on the tram/bus.  My cousin made this mistake and took the Chameleon (w/the bassinet feature) and she HATED it.  She told me to do the mcclaren which I plan on.  Or the bugaboo bee which mari has.  I haven't yet decided.

btw, you are going to LOVE the stroller!!!! yes, the two part is a mission, but the bassinet feature is amazing...I seriously just stopped using it.  Its great when you want to be out & about and your munchkin is sleeping.  Isabella slept GREAT inside it.

  • Thanks everyone!

We're gonna get the new UppaBaby 2010 G-LuxeUltra Lighweight stroller. It fully reclines and has some other fun features :)

  • I just got the Combi Cosmo and LOVE IT!!!!!! It's great and I think it's an even better travel stroller than the Maclaren due to the bar that goes across, so there is a place for the baby to put his cup and cheerios. The stroller was $129 but I'm guessing if you have a 20% off coupon for Buy Buy Baby or BabyLove or one of those stores you could get it for much cheaper.

I wrote a blog post about it here :)
