Clicky poll: Maisie

I'm thinking about Maisie as a name and I think DH might be coming around.  DD1's name is Claire and our names are Molly and Andy... if that makes a difference....

Feel free to add you $.02.

Re: Clicky poll: Maisie

  • I think Maisie is a cute nn, but not as a stand alone name.  I have a friend who named her DD Margaret and calls her Maisie.  I think it's adorable.

  • I like it, but I could see where folks don't think it's "serious" enough.

Wasn't Maisie on that list of "elite names" that was circulating around here a while back?

ETA: it was. Here's the list, FWIW: https://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-03-10/the-elites-top-50-baby-names/

  • It sounds like a pet name to me. It might be cute as a nickname for a little girl, but not as a full name for a grown woman.

Agree with this. I like the name as a nn though!

Is this pronounced Macy, like the store?

Nope.  It's pronounced like Daisy, except with an M.

Ha.  I just read that article.  I hadn't seen that one before.  Interesting lists...

  • It's interesting that many of you point out that it's too "nicknamey"... I've gotten that a bit with my own name, Molly, but it hasn't really been a problem.

Interesting point pp made about Maisie sounding like a pet's name.  I believe Molly is the #1 female dogs name.... if I had a nickle for every time someone said, "oh, my dog's name is Molly."  Indifferent
