Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Is this what teething is like??

So the last couple of nights DS has been super fussy.  He's usually such a happy, easy-going baby.  Lately he's had a really runny nose, hasn't been eating as well as usual, and all he wants is for me to hold him.  If I'm able to sit him down and distract him with a toy he'll be ok for a few minutes and then out of nowhere he'll start crying for me to pick him back up.  All week they said he's been great during the day at daycare, except for yesterday.  They said he was really cranky.  The last 2 nights he's also seemed really warm, like maybe he had a bit of a fever.  We've been giving him Tylenol when he goes to bed and also using teething tablets.  I don't know if the tablets help or not.  Last night I also tried Orajel, but it was HELL trying to get it on him!!  We still have no teeth and I'm pretty sure the bottom two are close to breaking through.  I just wish they would come in already!!!  I'm also wanting reassurance that it's probably teething and he's not sick or anything.  We have his 9 month appointment with the pedi tomorrow so we'll see what he thinks.

  • Sounds EXACTLY like teething.  By the way, the teething strips are so much easier than the tablets.  Humphrey's makes them.  You just pop them in LO's mouth and they dissolve.

Try Infant Motrin instead of Tylenol, it's stronger so works a lot better.

  • Yep, teething.  DS's 4th teeth is coming through, so he's been acting the same way: wanting to be held, wants to "graze" nurse, fusses, feels warm but no temp, etc.

    Teething rings help.
