I'm in the process of making hard boiled eggs....I swear I hear chirping...The eggs are in the water coming to a boil and all I hear is 'chirp, chirp, chirp..'

It's freaking me out...it sounds like I'm hurting little chicks.

This sound is normal, right?

That happens to me sometimes - it's the air escaping from little cracks in the eggs.

lol!!  Do you listen to the Smiley Morning show on 99.5?  All week they've been talking about chicken abortions and whether or not eating an egg was aborting a chicken or not.  Apparently though, the egg has to be fertilized in order to produck a chick, and the eggs we eat are unfertilized.  So I'm sure you're not hurting any chicks by boiling them.

FWIW, I saw my mom crack an egg open once and it did have a little embryo fetus inside. She screamed and started crying, and I followed suit.

OMG, now I'm so worried about my eggs that we're going to color!  They stopped 'chirping' thank goodness.
