So the doctor called... and now I'm freaking out.

So, I have a history of two miscarriages... I have PCOS, so my fertility doctor was in the middle of studies showing that Metformin dropped the miscarrage rate almost 90% with women who have PCOS. In June of 09, I gave birth to my first son, which we got pregnant while on Metformin. In January, I had a miscarrage again and was not on the med because I was breastfeeding. After the miscarriage I got right on Metformin, and the next month....  I'm expecting.

 So last week, I had a quant done, and my hcg level was 103. Which is good. Then they called me on Monday to have my Progesterone tested. Called today it was 7.5. Which to my understanding is low. What does this mean?!?!?!? They want me to have a hcg done again to make sure the leves are rising. Should I be freaking out?!?!? Help!!!!

I try to only freak out when I know that there is something to freak out about. If you are not going to see the doctor today, I would call them back and ask that they explain what this all means for you and the baby. My doctors office did something similar to me yesterday and I called them back to talk to a different nurse who would be willing to explain things to me, and she put me at ease. Different situation, but it is easy to freak out when we are not sure what is going on! (((hugs)))

My Progesterone was 7.5 and my hcg was 103. They've just never asked for all this blood work before... I believe that is what they checked the Progesterone for was to see if I needed the suppliments.... just nerve wracking!

Please stay calm...stress isn't good for you!

You're saying that your hcg was originally 103 and then they re-tested and it was still 103?  Call your doctor before you worry yourself sick!

my progesterone level was an 8 and they put me on progesterone supposetries right away and within a week it was up to 14.2.

 

Try not to stress, I'm sure that they will so something to make your levels rise.

If your Progesterone is only 7.5, your dr should put you on Prometrium or some other Progesterone sup right away.  I would call back and ask about that.  Mine was low also, and I have a history of m/c, and they put me on a sup and it's helping to keep my progesterone level up.
