advice regarding gift for baby boy

need to send a gift to a friend. the boy is 15 lbs at 3.5 months.  I want to buy summer clothes. Should I buy 9 month (16.5-20.5 lbs) or 12 month (20.5-24.5 lbs)?

He is breast fed and I'm thinking his growth won't slow down b/c he'll start solids.

I'd buy 9 month clothes.?

The 12 month clothes may be too large on him since Summer is right around the corner.
