just made me sad. All 17 year olds think they have it all together, that's part of being 17.  She sounds like my students though and that is really frightening.  Most teenagers who have actually seen more than the average 40 year old are in NO condition to be mother's.  They have seen too much and are too damaged from their life experiences.  They need a long time to heal before they reach the point where they can be selfless for another human being.

it makes me sad. I hope to god that my children have more sense than to TRY and get k/u at 18.

it seems to me that she just wants someone/something to love. Like a puppy. so incredibly sad.

exactly ppp - it's the "I wasn't loved or have had fvcked up shiit done to me so I need something to love and that will love me" syndrome.  Unfortunately as we all know, it doesn't work that way.
