LOVE Eleanor.  It was my grandmother's name and my first choice for our daughter, but DH didn't love.  If we ever have another girl, he's getting over-ruled. 

But I'm not wild about Ellie, just because it is SO popular right now, along with Elle, Ella, etc . . . I prefer just Eleanor.  If there has to be a nickname, I like Nell better than Ellie.

Love Eleanor and like Ellie as a NN for it. Although Ellie / Ella is extremely popular right now, if it's only used as a casual nickname then I don't see the problem with that.

My mom is an Eleanor and uses the nickname Ellie. She hates it and its NMS either. My mom always complained that the only famous Eleanor was Eleanor Roosevelt and that she was not cute. She has a point there. I know its becoming more popular now and I usually love old names, but still can't find myself liking this one.
