when will you pierce LO's ears?

I got mine done in second grade and I will forever remember the day. I was so much looking forward to it and even had a paper ring countdown going. I think we were allowed on our 8th birthday.

This seems so young now! I plan on letting DD do it around 8 years old too but I wanted to know when you will let DD (DS too) get their ears pierced. (if you haven't already)

I wont let DS get his ears pierced until he's 18 and can take care of it himself.

If we have a girl, she wont be getting hers pierced until probably 2nd grade at the earliest.

First, not until she asks for it

Second, not until I think she is reasonably responsible enough to clean them and take care of the maintenance herself.

I was thinking this same thing, maybe she won't want it done, but so far she has had SO much interest in all things jewlery.

I don't know what the norm will be for boys

But if I had a girl, it wouldn't be until she asked and had time to be excited about it. I remember getting mine done and it was a fun mom and daughter day.

My mom took me on my 9th birthday...originally I was supposed to wait till I was 10, but I asked and she decided I was old enough. I remember that day so clearly...I felt like such a big girl, it was such a cool gift.

When she's old enough to ask and can somewhat help take care of them. My mom tells me I started asking at 4 but I didn't get them peirced until my 6th birthday. I remember it being a big deal and I still have the earrings they were peirced with! I want that memory for dd.
