So congested (me) - what meds really work??

I am so congested... I feel like my head could explode.  I feel perfect otherwise...

dd is down for a nap, but once she wakes, we're off to CVS for some meds. What do you find that really works for you?

tia!

ps- this "server is busy" is driving me nuts. I never, ever have time to "bump" and now that I do, I'm getting "sever is busy" every 5 seconds.

  • I only seem to have luck w/Tylenol Cold products.

We all had really bad colds here for almost 3 weeks but DH was taking Mucinex and his went away quick. I thought i'd try one out and I felt totally drunk. I couldn't drive or do anything, I was that messed up (it's 1 tablet and lasts 12 hours). I totally passed out cold that night in bed. So I dont rec Mucinex!

  • I have found the best thing for me is using a nettie pot.  It's also pure entertainment when the water shoots out the other side of your nose too.  It works really well!

Other than that- if its a sinus headache I take tylenol cold and sinus.  Or Sinutab.

  • Regular mucinex to get the gunk moving, and believe it or not, orange triamentic syrup for the runny aftermath

  • Dayquil!  It always works for us.
  • Get something with pseudoephedrine in it. It's the only thing that *truly* works for congestion.

I don't know if it's like this in every state, but at the pharmacies here, anything with pseudoephedrine in it is behind the pharmacy counter.

    I like privacy. A lot.

I know I'm to late to help this time, but I love Afrin nasal spray.  Works great and doesn't make me feel spacey.
